Are these designs proven?

I have received well over 100 unsolicited testimonies from cattlemen, corral builders, ag. engineers and other cattle 'experts' over the years (see testimonies page) saying how much easier it is for them, or their clients, to handle their cattle by themselves now. And how much they enjoy working in the corrals. I have also had excellent feedback on my 2-man systems.

There are lots of free designs around, why should I pay for yours?

No one gives away a really good idea. A number of my ideas can save you hundreds of dollars in material costs, and as much again on labor costs (see testimonies). There are many simple practical new ideas - from automatic gate latches to simple headgate designs - to build yourself.

I only have a small herd, which package would be best for me?

The first first package has the smaller layouts in it, but if you mention the maximum number of cattle in the corral at one time I'll send you extra layouts for that number. So it really depends on how many ideas and layouts you'd like to look at.

What are the "ideas?

The "ideas"  everything from gate latches to simple headgate designs - all simple designs you can build yourself, or get someone to build for you. Lots of ideas for gates, chutes, sorting, loading chutes, calf chutes, low-cost fence designs (after 15 years one corral with a fence costing just one third the cost of a normal corral fence is still handling adult cattle) weighing ideas, anti-backing devices, safe tubs.... plus many more.

Where do you get your ideas?

I TB tested cattle in New Zealand for 17 years and worked in hundreds of different corrals (cattle yards) over that time.  In one corral I could TB test 200 cattle in an hour by myself, in other corrals it would take me all day with 2 people helping me. The difference was mostly in the design of the corral. Since then I have researched in several countries for the latest ideas in cattle handling.

How are these designs different from the many others out there?

My designs are simpler and less costly to build than many other designs. And definitely require less labor. Apart from the many ideas to save costs and labor, I use 8 different ways to entice cattle through a corral - right up to the headgate. I use these principles to design corrals that draw cattle into and through them; corrals in which you can even sort cattle by yourself (see testimonies).

Are the measurements in feet and inches?

Yes, unless you request metrics.

How are the designs sent to me?

I have 3 different packages that I send to you online - you have them to look at and print within 24 hours. Or I can mail you a CD with the 18 layouts and 120 ideas package, or a book with 12 layouts and 80 ideas (see Order Designs page).

Are the designs similar to Temple Grandins?

Temple is an amazing person and has done much to promote safe and humane animal handling all over the world.  However my focus is more on low-cost  and low-labor corrals - in other words efficiency. Safety is also a passion of mine as I have seen many injuries in corrals over the years.
